San Giovanni in Florence 24th of June. Mid summer celebrations ! San Giovanni is the patron of Florence, and is celebrated with historical processions in the morning, ancient football games, ‘Calcio Storico‘ in the afternoon at Piazza Santa Croce and fire works in the evening! Happen to be in Florence, be ready by 22.00, in company of thousands of other florentines, and enjoy the show! Best spots to see the fireworks are around the Arno river banks, Ponte Vecchio and the hillside around Piazzale Michelangelo. Another great panorama is from Fiesole, a bit more distant, but you will have a wide panoramic view to Florence.

Few great spots around Florence to enjoy the evening and view the fire works:

Terrazza Brunelleschi, on top of the Hotel Baglioni. Enjoy your dinner or a drink in the terrace restaurant. www.terrazzabrunelleschi.it

Hotel Continentale: Roof Top terrace for fashionable drinks and great views. www.lunagarnocollection.com

Golden View Open Bar. A modern lounge bar by the Arno River, nearby the Ponte Vecchio. Great river view. www.goldenviewopenbar.com

Villa Bardini Gardens: A museum and historical gardens. (Entrance fee). Great view to the fire works from Terrazza ‘Belvedere‘.

Forte di Belvedere: Fortress with a panoramic terrace overlooking Florence. (Will be opened for public in July 2014).

Fiesole: Drinks in Blu Bar , dining in Terrazza 45 in the main square Piazza Mino or dinner in roff top restaurant Terazza 45 in the main square. There is also a lovely restaurant Reggia degli Etruschi, along the way to the Franciscan monastery. (Need to make some steep uphill walking!). If you decide to make your way up to the Franciscan convent, there is a public garden area and a terrace with great panorama to Florence.

You will find live music, happenings and happy people in town all night!
